Your will tells all what should happen to your estate when you die. I read that 42% of UK adults haven’t got a will, according to a Jan 2018 survey by Macmillan Cancer Support. I have just updated my will through Cancer Research UK at no cost to me.
The Free Will Service is a scheme, which Cancer Research UK has set up with Solicitors throughout the UK. The Charity partners with these firms so that anyone over the age of 55 who wants to write or update a Simple Will can do so for free.
A simple Will is usually a Will where there is no inheritance tax involved and there are no complex issues – if in doubt just ask your solicitor. Most people who use the Free Will Service do leave Cancer Research a gift. There is no obligation to do so but I did.
You might like to visit the Cancer Research web site and find out more about it. You have to be over 55 and you can enter your post code online to find out if there is a participating Free Will Service Solicitor in your area and then just download the Free Will Service forms to take to your participating Solicitor – write your simple Will and Cancer Research UK should cover the cost.
Worth thinking about.
